Size 36 x 56 inches

MATERIAL:

8 skeins Knitting Worsted (4 oz. skein) each tan and royal blue

1 skein Knitting Worsted (4 oz. skein) black

1 pair knitting needles No. 8

1 aluminum crochet hook No. 6 or G

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:

     Long Panels: Cast on 243 sts and work in seed st. for 5 inch. Bind off. Make 2 each in tan and royal blue.

     Short Panels: Cast on 61 sts. and work in seed st. for 8 inch. Bind off. Make 4 each in tan and royal blue.

     Large Center Panels: Cast on 163 sts. and work in seed st. for 15 inch. Bind off. Make 1 each in tan and royal blue.

     Small Center Panels: Cast on 81 sts. and work in seed st. for 15 inch. Bind off. Make 1 each in tan and royal blue.

FINISHING:

     Crochet 1 row of s.c. matching color around each panel, working 3 s.c. in each corner st. Sew panels together from wrong side with an overhand stitch, taking up top thread of each st. on each edge only. Arrange panels as follows: Sew 1 blue and 1 tan long panel tog., join short panels as follows: 1 tan, 1 blue, 1 tan, 1 blue, and now sew this strip to tan long panel. Join large blue center panel and small tan center panel. Sew to afghan. Join large tan center pane] and small blue center panel and sew to afghan. Join short panels as follows: 1 blue, 1 tan, 1 blue, 1 tan and sew this strip to afghan. Sew 1 tan long panel to afghan. Sew 1 blue long panel to afghan.

     Right side of afghan facing you with black and tapestry needle work 1 row chain st. along each seam as shown in picture.

EDGING:

     With No. 6 crochet hook and tan work 1 row s.c. around the entire afghan, working 3 s.c. in each corner st. Work 1 more row in tan, 2 rows blue and 2 rows black in same manner. Block to size.
