MATERIALS
BERNAT MOHAIR PLUS (1½ oz. balls) — 1
BERNAT SESAME (Germantown Weight) (2 oz. pull pouches) — 1
1 pair BERNAT-Aero straight knitting needles No. 10½ (Canadian Needles No. 2)
OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
GAUGE: 7 sts = 2 inches; 4 rows = 1 inch
Using one strand of each yarn, cast on 11 sts. Row 1: K 1, inc 1 st in each remaining st — 21 sts. Row 2 (right side): * K 2, P 2, repeat from *, ending K 1. Row 3: * P 2, K 2, repeat from *, ending P 1. Repeat the last 2 rows until piece measures 36 inches, ending with Row 2. On the next row * P 2 tog, K 2 tog, repeat from *, ending K 1. Bind off all sts in ribbing.
FINISHING: Fold piece in half. Cross ends and sew tog for 5 inches from bound off and cast on edges. Then sew to back of hat, holding in to desired head size.
